Reks and all the other Final Fantasy XII characters, as well as the game itself, do not belong to me but to SquareEnix.
INFORMATION
Reks is a character from FFXII. I could warn you of spoilers, but honestly, if you have played the game, it's impossible you haven't met him yet and if you haven't, well, you will meet him as soon as you do.
However, consider this my,quite useless, spoiler warning.
Reks is the character that introduces you to the game controls. He is a soldier, fighting for Dalmasca against the Archadian Empire, and is caught in the assault to the Nalbina Fortress, having to protect the king and trying to avoid that he signs a treaty that will doom all of Dalmasca.
Not being used to battle, since he used to live peacefully in Rabanastre, Reks has a bit of a hard time to adapt, yet, it was his choice to join the army and protect his land, and the people important to him that were in it.
Later on, you find out Reks is, in fact, Vaan's brother. He is fighting because he believes he is fighting for his younger brother's well being as well as all Dalmasca. In his fight, he meets Captain Basch, who he insists on calling Sir, another Dalmascan soldier, as well as Vossler.
When in the Nalbina Fortress, Reks and Basch are attacked by a few soldiers and Reks asks Basch to go forward without him since he will handle the soldiers alone. Reks manages to defeat his enemies and run up as well to support Basch, sooner than expected... What he finds, surprises him and, soon, he is attacked, by the least expected person.
He doesn't die immediately, but ends up dying a few days after, in an hospital in Rabanastre, after Vaan has the opportunity to visit him and Reks lets him know all that he had witnessed, not everything quite clear in his mind then.
He loves the scent of Galbana lilies, a very rare, red flower that blossoms in the Dalmacan Desert. He used to carry a ring that, after his death, Vaan takes instead, carrying it as a memo of his older brother.
I'm picking Reks up shortly after his death. He is 17 years old, as he was when he died, Vaan being two years younger than him then. However, I'm making his body that of a 17 years old boy, but his mind that of a 19 years old one, because that would be the age he would have, had he not died. Reks is a very brave young man, with a huge sense of duty and a smile on his face most of the times, always ready to help even though fighting is not something he is that great with. He lost his parents to the war when he was very young still and since then he acted as a mother, father, brother and best friend to Vaan, helping Migelo, a Bangaa in Rabanastre that allowed them to stay with him, as a thanks, delievering his products around the town as well as killing a few rats from the Waterway under Rabanastre, which earned him the name of Reks Ratsbane.
Very well known by the people of Rabanastre as being a courageous, good and someone who liked to joke around, Reks was very determined in protecting Vaan, Migelo, Kyles, Penelo and the other kids, Vaan being the main reason why he joined the Resistance and fought along side Basch.
STATUS
Reks is currently living in appartment 23 on the 9th floor. Razzy, Celine & Basch are staying with him.
